Black Oak Lake Crafting Clubs
A couple of artistically inspired ladies started our rug hooking group in 2001 as an exciting way to bring together a varied group of lake residents. Many of our cabins have been in the same family for generations and contain rugs that had been hooked by our grandmothers! What fun we all thought it would be to rekindle that tradition.
The group meets casually at homes once or twice a week in the summer and sporadically throughout the spring and fall, to work on our individual projects and learn new hooking and fabric stripping techniques. Some members are quite talented (they even attend “rug hooking camps”) while a large group of us are still enjoying the learning process! What a great way to chat and get to know our neighbors. Members are varied in age and interest and we even claim a male participant! The crafting clubs occasionally “show” their completed pieces, or works in progress, at a reception at one of our homes, which is a festive event for all on the lake.
Everyone is welcome! No experience required! Contact any Board Member for more info!
